Triple J MP3 of the week
Unsigned music promotion
Triple J [Australian Youth radio station] in its occasional wisdom is mixing MP-'the next big thing'-3 with promoting new Australian music. MP3 of the week via it's Net 50 show showcases an MP3 from an Australian artist each week, giving that little bit of promotion to those who deserve it. I wonder how many bands send their demos into commercial stations anymore? Time on the radio is usually paid for by record companies and rarely earned. At least Triple J has that little bit of independence (although it relies on government funding, being part of the Australian Broadcasting Corp.).

I've put my music in. Wish me luck. I haven't listened to anything they've chosen. I don't vouch for their taste.

Pre-Shrunk
Playing again soon!
Pre_Shrunk are back from Japan, finished mixing the album and are ready to head back on the road again. They play at EV's on Friday 23rd June. Doors open 6.30pm. $8 Entry. EV's is on Mt Dandenong Rd. Croydon (near main street). Hopefully more shows soon.

Pre_Shrunk's album has been pushed back a fair bit but should be out in July. Excitement. A full MP3 of new track "Gamer" (about all night Half-Life gaming) will be on the official site soon.

I am updating my Pre_Shrunk site. I have put built a database behind the gig database for easy batch updates. I'm using my skills at work for my hobbies. I'm glad my job and my interests join. So many don't have that luxury.

Employment
The things we do
I am currently handing over a project before I leave my job for the halls of joy (we hope) mp3.com.au. I could think of far more interesting things to do than teaching something you know so well, to someone who knows nothing. And to do this in only a few weeks, without prior organisation. How do teachers do it? Going by general complaints and unemployment in Australia, maybe they don't.

My new job will be out of the CBD, away from my friends. Closer to home by a few train stations, but further from that which I know best. Changes for the best can hurt. It's further from JB-HiFi. I'll be rich again.
