Firstly, someone stupid enough to use an mp3 site and download an entire file before reviewing it needs their head read, listen to the start and if you don't like it, cancel the download. Or even (shock horror) stream it at low quality then download it if you like it.
We did get some nice helpful emails and we did get email from people who like it, but general useless hate mail overtook it all.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that people hate our music. I'm ecstatic that we pissed off so many people, that so many people we don't know listened to our music. It's great. The thought of some poor kid downloading our music and finally listening to it and hating.. I mean really HATING it. The look on his face. I can see it now. mmmm
But the last few days have made me loose respect for the majority of humanity. Look at birth rates. Smart intellegent upstanding people arn't having kids. And that's probably a good thing because upstanding people usually suck, depending on your definition... but if you ask around you'll find the most inappropriate people having kids. Go on, try it on a train.
But that's not my point. Look at your average newsgroup. Most of the stuff posted is crap. Useless mentally disabled crap. Has it always been like this and the net has just made the pathetic masses more obvious. Put them on an equal playing field with the rest of us?
Maybe I'm just elite and you're all thinking I'm a spoilt little shit winging over real life. Maybe I am.
The Shizit
The Shizit are an American band against the world. They call themselves Industrial and I suppose that's the best I can do. Excellent superspeed drumloops, very angry screamed vocals, fantastic guitar riffs and not much else. All of their tracks are available for download from their webpage and mp3.com.
74% of people who answered this survey...
... feel that downloads are the future of music. 19% said they would not participate in a program requiring them to pay for music downloads from one of the major labels (Sony, EMI, blah.) as they felt they could find what they wanted for free. Their next poll, "opinions on rock bands collaborating with orchestras", sent me giggling. Go 'lica. Go 'lica. Go 'lica.
Speaking of Metallica
Went past a metal detector in Cash Converters the other day and the following words instantly sprang to mind..
"Ran that over Metallica and it didn't beep once"
..ooo so harsh is my mind.
