JB HiFi Sold
That Melbourne icon, music chain JB HiFi has been acquired by Macquarie Bank and BancBoston in a deal estimated to be worth $40 million.

JB HiFi has been around Melbourne since 1975 and have always sold cheaper CDs than the major chains. Back when everywhere you looked CDs were $30, JB had them for $26. They regularly have sales on popular CDs, dropping them to less than $18. Not that long ago most of the Midnight Oil's back catalogue was on their shelves for less than $10. Oh, and they sell music hardware too (stereos, mics, DVD, TVs etc.)

I love JB. I have given JB more money than I have spent on any other person or shop in my entire life (including the PC purchases I have made). If I cannot find a CD I want at JB I am very upset as I have to go to a major chain to get it. I'd rather buy off the net than go to HMV or Sanity.

Part of this deal will include the expansion of JB into New South Wales and the adding of PCs, software and mobile phones to their stock (as recently seen in the recently moved Knox JB).

Here's hoping they stay cheap and they update their terrible webpage.
