Digital Rights Management
This article from
mp3.com,
'Five Myths About DRM' is an interesting, if very negative view of digital rights management. Briefly DRM involves wrapping music (such as an MP3) in an encrypted package. Users must get a license to listen to the music which is done via the web, usually with prompting within the edia player. DRM managers can set files to only play a few times, or only within a certain date.
mp3.com.au are releasing a DRM solution soon.
I like the idea of being able to make music available for free but limit it in some way. To be able to send files to friends so they can listen. Basically the same as lending a CD. I'm interested to see if this works. Previous DRM solutions have been hacked though.
Powderfinger, Odyssey Number Five
The forth album. I have it. I will review it soon. First impressions... low.
