MP3 worldwide, Fairtunes  #

MP3 isn't just US
Obviously, but it isn't just Australia and UK either. Check out this slashdot discussion about the MP3 issue worldwide.

Fairtunes
Want to tip an artist you like? Check out Fairtunes. You can pledge money to any artist but obviously it's up to the artist to cash the cheque. "Ani DiFranco, Sarah McLachlan, Phish, David Bowie, Fiona Apple, Tom Petty, The Noisies have all cashed their Fairtunes checks." This service is just the beginning of what is to come.

Referers
You can now see how people find my site (other than accessing it directly) with the realkosh referers list. Nice to see Aussie Blogs and Scripting News links on there, as well as the obvious Weblogs updates page. The more interesting are the searches that hit my site, including "Powderfinger My Happiness MP3", "Lego Woman", "Triple JJJ MP3". Quite a lot are for MP3s actually, of which my site has none (bar links to my music. My favourite by far is the request for "you fucked up and now you're dead", a reference to a Pre_Shrunk lyric in Gamer. I hope they found Pre_Shrunk ok.

Speaking of disturbing search requests.

While I'm at it, for those who don't know, see a full list of all of Aussie Music's articles by going to http://realkosh.weblogs.com/discuss/.

That election all those miles away
I give about half a shit about the US election. That half a shit comes down to the fact the US tends to make all the laws, and our country is likely to copy them.

Bush won (by ~150,000 votes). I would have liked Gore but it's only a gut feeling, I think they're both idiots. What is far more interesting is the ballots that run at the same time as the election. Here is what wacky USians decided against...

Alaska decided against legalising Hemp and Marijuana 61% to 39%.

Arizona decided against allowing schools to teach in more than one language (63% to 37%), they want all school to be in English.

Colorada legalized medicinal Marijuana (yay) but only just 54% to 46%. They also voted to require gun checks at gun shows 70% to 30%.

Maine decided against allowing people to kill themselves with the help of a doctor 52% to 48%.

70% of Nebraskaians doesn't want same sex mariages. Same with Navada. BUT Navada want to legalize medicinal Marijuana with 65% saying yes.

How do these things work? Is this now law or can the government say, 'that's nice but piss off.'
