Art / Computers / Life
isometric screenshots is is the first exhibition by digital artist John Haddock. He renders real life events as if they were screenshots from computer games. Brilliant.

Hey, they got more than us.. no fair
MP3.com reported a few days ago that it's a big possibility that Sony and all the other companies that settled with them for $20m may sue to get the rest of their cash. They're cranky because Universal got $50+m. Diddums.

MP3.com ain't all that grand

Pre_Shrunk
Friday 17th November 2000
Last Friday Pre_Shrunk had the launch for their album Digital Sunrise at the Corner Hotel in Richmond. I went with a few friends to check it all out.

Shrunk were supported by The Grand Silent System who played two half hour sets throughout the night. As usual I was impressed by their playing ability but wasn't blown away by it all. Three or so songs were fantastic and it's the random gems that keep me wanting to see them. If only they're record something more.

In between bands was one of the worst DJ sets I've ever heard. Even mixing in some Pre_Shrunk tunes wasn't going to help them. Av-er-age. Scratch scratch wank scratch. They couldn't even beatmix properly. Maybe it was a bad night?

Pre_Shrunk came on around 11:45pm, obviously happy to be there and possibily a little drunk. They dived straight into two seriously doofed up versions of Hot Robots and Soundpimp. A few fans have been complaining about the new version of Soundpimp but I loved it, especially next to Hot Robots.

The rest of the set was peppered with new tracks (Teeth Don't Shine and Ring in Sympathy rule live, go live drum loops) and old gems. They finished with gamer and left for their pre-encore break to return to play their Bee Gee's cover 'You Should Be Dancin' (explaining it sounded like a good idea at the time). They finished with the epic 'Accelerate'. As usual, I had a great time.

For this gig I missed Fantomas. The best description of the night I saw was "like a bunch of ravers trying to dance to drum and bass". Exactly as I thought then.

Phones
I thought I'd lost my phone on Thursday. So I rang to get it suspended until I found it. It took 45mins on hold to get to an opperator. They answered when I started going into my usual 'I've waited far too long' rant about knowing where they live and bombing their building. I always assume people will see this as a joke. I've done it to the bank before and they wern't impressed at all. Funilly enough during this rant was when they decided to answer my call. She sounded pissed...

Anyway, they suspended my phone. It took about two seconds. I found the phone the next day. It took 40 hours to reconnect. My question is... why?

Micallef
Last Tuesday I went and saw the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp) show Micallef being taped. Micallef is the creator of Myron, the little blue blob of crap we've used as a maskot for Walken.

Micallef is a comedy show filled with silly sketches and fake interviews. The taping had material to be used over weeks of shows but they tried to tape it all as if it was a full show. Fans of blooper shows would get off on this kind of taping as any stuff up, when you're there, is far funnier than on TV.

It was random, it was patchy, there was no Myron, but I loved it.

MP3.com evil
While I've at it, I'd just like to say the McDonalds pop-up on MP3.com is stupid and I want it gone, now. Thank you.
