DVD Update
Techtronics are my new heroes. They're going to massive efforts to ensure players they sell are multizoned and macrovision free to ensure the best possible use of players by their customers. Personally I'm going to have to put my DVD player through a VCR in order to plug it into my ancient miniTV in my room, and macrovision will ruin this. I'm not sure if I have macrovision on or not. I'm also not sure if my player is multi-region (auto switching) or simply region-0. Only testing will tell.

They also go out of their way to get around the new RCE technology. Acording to them my player should be fine... asuming it's been modified correctly. As I said... we'll see.

It will cost me $45 AUS to get the Transformers DVD (through CDNow). I'm very upset. The best I could do was to get the Orgazmo soundtrack and the rereleased of Secret Chiefs 3 "First Grand..." with it for $105. Way too much cash for such trivial items. Maybe I'll have to contact some US friends.

The US needs an overhall of it's Airmail costs. Put that on your list Bush bunny.

Dream
I had a dream that Iraq took over Australia and came around executing everyone who owned a copy of the South Park Movie. I also dreamt a few days ago that some friends of mine and I were sitting around licking acid off toothpicks in a resturant. I just started to massively trip when I woke up. I've never had acid before but the dream was amazing. Freaky.

Next dream : Australian government blindly making MP3s / region code defeating / photocopying / talking among friends / cover bands illegal one day. Actually, banning cover bands might be a good thing.

DVD
In the tradtion of Bowie changing his mind instantly, I've decided against the Hiteker. It's not a bad unit, but really, the only excuse for putting up with a cheaper Chinese DVD unit is multizoning and naughtiness and this didn't have the famed secret menu.

I've seen the "Omni" around selling for $320, multizoned and unmacrovisioned. It's had good reviews for start up users. But again, I'm in a well known brand mood. It feels safer. I'm such a consumer.

So now I'm with a Pioneer DV535. There is an option in the setup to turn off the damn angle indicator! Yes! It also has lots of nice digital outputs for recording audio to minidisc (which has a digital in) for portability.

But will it play the new updated DVD's that check for zoneage? Only time will tell.
