MP3
MP3.com being used in the best way possible. To distribute rare live recordings to the fans of Muddy Waters. Rather than spend thousands of dollars getting a random CD out to the few fans that may want it, they've simply uploaded the tracks to MP3.com and let their distribution service deal with it. Maybe Pearl Jam could have done this?
A couple of new attempts to prevent MP3 piracy. Copy protection built into harddisks (and some Slashdot rants and links). And a method of recognising original. versions of files and searching the net for copies.
Pre_Shrunk
Apparently they rocked the falls, had a short break, and then rocked the Skate Park the night after. I also hear someone got the shit beaten out of them in the park with a skateboard, most of the people there were drunk and that it was easy to walk in to the drug+alcohol free event with slabs and/or bottles under your arms. Good work to the security at this event. May you never be hired again.
Walken
Walken (the band) spent three days in a 'studio' between Xmas and New Year and what a learning experience it was. There were heated arguements over recording methods, complaints over basslines being lame, running battles over how fast a song should be and whether it should sound like AC/DC or R.E.M. But at the end of it all we have a couple of MiniDiscs full of takes. We did about eight songs 'live'. Hopefully they'll be good enough to play to ya'll.
What did we play (for the fans).. City Loop, Lucy, Ego, Glory, Lego Woman, Monkey, You Could Be Happier, With Me, Right Again.
Approximate
I've had a new offer to play some of my music on the radio. Street FM, a Melbourne 'temporary' radio station. I'm also going to send a demo to Triple R (Melbourne community station) in the hope of getting on their demo show?
What do I plan to get out of this? I've no idea...
