35hr week in France
The Null Device informed me of this Age article on the new 35hr week in France. Benefits? Less traffic problems, less workforce stress (and the problems that come with it) and France's lowest unemployment in 9 years. I've always thought it stupid that we have have some professions where those in jobs work long days while many others have trouble finding jobs....

BMG death
bandname.com's weekly newsletter reports the death of Rudi Gassner, "who was to assume the president/CEO post of the company [BMG], which owns the RCA and Arista labels". He died of a heart attack.

The letter goes on to say that the 'copyright industry' accounts for 4.94% of the gross domestic product of the US. Analysts are saying that this is strong evidence in favour of strong copyright protection world wide.

It tells me there will be a lot of money in it for whoever invents a technology that is used for this protection.
