Of course they fail to see the point. If people Nasterise TV (and they already are in a way with the millions of FTP servers stacked with South Park, Futurama, Family Guy and Simpsons episodes) it is because they want to watch what they want, when they want. I don't see why it is so hard to provide access to shows on demand and simply include the ads, the shows and content being paid for in exactly the same way they are now. The more popular shows will have more expensive ad space.
New bands in Melbourne
There is a lot going on in the little town of Melbourne. As discovered on citysearch, the Greyhound Hotel has opened up a few of it's band nights to new and unsigned acts. Simply send them a demo tape, a short bio and an email address.
On the Greyhound page I notice a little story on "How Not To Get A Gig", about the band Envoy and their show at the 'hound. The band sound like a bunch of hot heads so I choose now to look them up... all I found was reference to a support gig they may have turned up to and their 'coming soon' website.
Walken plan to send their latest live demo to the Greyhound with their fingers crossed for a gig. For those who care the demo eventually included the following tracks Glory, Lucy, Lover's Lane, Right Again, Ego, City Loop, You Could Be Happier. Hopefully an MP3 or two will end up on our official site.
Lack of computing
I have used the computer only a few times this week, I've spent most of my time with my girlfriend. I used the computer on Wednesday to mix down the Walken demo mentioned above. I didn't really miss it too much. I have a lot of things I need to do, update the Walken page, update preshrunk.net, update this log... but they're not pressing.
Dave moved recently. I visited his new place in the city. He is within walking distance of a lot of venues I would like to visit frequently.. The Evelyn, The Punters Club.. he could easily take a tram to the Corner Hotel or even all the way to St. Kilda to the Epsy or Greyhound. I want to live in the city. He can walk to the city and to hundreds of pubs within minutes.
My current reasons for not moving? I have great parents and have no need to move out. I'm a little worried about security in the inner city. The move itself would be a bitch to complete and I could really do without the hassle, although I could easily do it in parts. I would have to move close to Richmond, and I don't really like Richmond... but I suppose I could learn to love the wacky shops on Chapel St with it's random CD shops and DVD shops and music instrument shops. I suppose I'm most scared of change... and the fear of losing what little time I have for joy to the requirements of living away from home.
I'm going to clean my room, burn a couple of Approximate CDs and send them to radio stations and ignore life for a while. Back to work tomorrow...
