Subject URL: Napster to block all copyrighted music

As a last attempt to stay running, Napster will now block all copyrighted material as submitted by the copyright holders. Files will be blocked by filename. Look out for some interestingly named songs. Personally I've given up on Napster. Such a pity to see it go.

Found an old list in my year 12 (1995) diary yesterday. "Top Eleven Albums (in no order)".

  • "Cut", Hunters and Collectors
  • "Metallica", Metallica
  • "The Real Thing", Faith No More
  • "Vs", Pearl Jam
  • "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", Red Hot Chilli Peppers
  • "Nevermind", Nirvana
  • "America's Least Wanted", Ugly Kid Joe
  • "Siamese Dream", Smashing Pumpkins
  • "Far Beyond Driven", Pantera
  • "Traction", Supergroove
  • "10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1", Midnight Oil

As disturbing as some of those choices are ("Far Beyond Driven" is pretty damn bad), it's interesting to see even six years ago (scary isn't it) Midnight Oil's 10 to 1 was in my top 10 (11, whatever).

All the rest of those albums still rock, except "America's Most Wanted" which I listened to recently and although I liked bits of it I got over it pretty damn quick. They really are the try hard Guns and Roses everyone said they were. Their first EP "As Ugly As They Wanna Be" is a little rawer and more fun. By their first album they already felt commercialed to death

Funnily enough I've been listening to "Traction" all week and am loving it. What to do.. what to do..
