MPAA goes after Gnutella  #

Subject URL: MPAA goes after Gnutella

I wasn't going to blog today but this caught my eye. Looks like the MPAA isn't going to take any crap anymore, sending threatening letters to ISPs informing them of users on their system who have been trading movies via Gnutella. One of those ISPs is my own Excite@Home (although most likely the US version).

Movie trading is something I've never really understood. Porn yes, it's stuff that is hard to get and embarasing to purchase over a counter, but internet video is such terrible quality. I guess I just don't have the patience for crap video as I do for crap audio. Although I've certainly enjoyed seeing Futurama episodes months before they come out here. But that sort of quality isn't something I'd paid for. I guess most of it is the desire to see something you can't currently see.

All the more reason for global release dates.
