Why  #
Friday, 25 May 2001 05:32PM
You know why I started blogging? Because Dave pointed me to weblogs.com and said, "check this out, HTML backend interface to a diaryesque website". Pretty cool I thought. Had a play and liked it. Had a bit more of a play and loved it. Not for what I was saying or what I decided to make of this site ("aussie music rants") but the web interface. I could update/link/rant wherever I was via the web. I LOVE web interfaces... so simple. So boring ;p I've spent a bit of time in the last week making a web interface for preshrunk.net. No more FTP. No more HTML. No more pregeneration. Joy.

Problem is, it's all so tempting to play with while at work. I've had a very unproductive day today. You could argue it would have been unproductive anyway, whether I had this blog as a distraction or not but I've been distracted is the point... check the times of my postings and you'll see what I mean. But 99.9% of the time I get the work I need to get done done, today was a very rare example of inability to work. I didn't like it.

RIAA v AIMster  #

RIAA going after AIMster. Here is my new list of potential copyright infringment RIAA targets: ICQ, WarFTP, IIS, Teak CDr, Megamemory programs, Reflex paper, Cort acoustic guitars, Sony VCRs, Pioneer recordable Audio-CD, IVF (for creating nasty copyright infringing humans), penicilin (for keeping nasty copyright infringing humans alive when they should die like they deserve to the evil scum), McDonalds, the easter bunny, Jesus, the state of California's antismoking laws and everyone in Japan named Paul with only one eye and a limp.

Oh, and of course Nylon. Evil nylon that took all the business that should rightfully have been Hemp's. And the UN for keeping the peace when there should be war and carnage!

And.. and.. and.. and.. and..

Audiogalaxy... don't  #

Those Napster leavers tempted by AudioGalaxy... read the link above. Newest version spies on you big time. Of course, who the hell says Napster doesn't do that? Or your ISP? Or your work? My favourite Napster beater sofar is still AIMster's idea of 'share with your friends via ICQesque interface'. Just sharing with your group of friends instead of 'the world' as Napster does is something I've wanted for a while. Pity AOL instant messager sucks so much. But there is already an AIMster I could use. It's called FTP.

Ever have one of those days were you just can't seem to get anything done and one hour feels like ten? Coffee effects me almost exactly as alcohol does without the tiredness, until about an hour later when I crash. It's nasty nasty stuff. I should have another cup. And a Lift+... mmm Lift Plus.

Timo Maas is cool. *doof*doof*doof*. I think it's ironic to rip/MP3/pirate 'artists' who simply remix/doofafy/rip other artists. Irony... no escapin' Irony....

ACCC takes on DVD  #

I'm sick of this issue (ACCC taking on DVD regioning). It's ancient. Seems they've finally decided regioning is evil and they're going to try to do something about it instead of just blabbing about it. Likely projected outcome of case? All players in Australia must be multizone. Like they arn't already. (via everyone)

THAT Australian article  #

Visit, enjoy. Read Pah, who somehow manages to figure out the best way to say everything. I need to buy me a dictionary. The Australian article seems to see blogs in the 'it's a web diary' light, which I don't tend to agree with. Blogs are more of a continual one-way email discussion with a group of friends. At least, that's the way I see it. Feel free to email and tell me I'm wrong (thus destroying the one-wayness of my blog and prooving me wrong). I like it. I have trouble having truely deep thoughts by myself. I need negative stimulation first... what?
