Oh my god, Becky look at her butt... some of them try to rhyme but they can't rhyme like this... rhythmn is a dancer, it's a souls companion... uzi 9 millimetre!!!... pack it up, pack it in, let me begin, i came to win, battle me that's a sin... back to the heavyweight back to the heavyweight back to the heavyweight jam!...

Damn music was terrible in the 80's/early 90's and it started my path into enjoying music. This is all the stuff I used to love until I discovered "guitar music". Nirvana, Metallica, Gun's and Roses... the magic of metal.

For someone completely into music as I am it's amazing how late I got into music, and unbelievable how much music I missed while my nose was buried in pop dance.

All of this stuff will have a special place in my heart. I love listening to KLF, Snap and 2 Unlimited and hearing so much modern day dance/breakbeat/whatever in it. Stuff I love now. Stuff I rejected from my life through my late High School years but have embrassed again. But much of what I used to love has turned in the cheeze of todays dancefloors. Stuff I still hate. There was something different in KLF that isn't in todays cheeze.

Everybody Dance Now...

Influence Album  #

Who's stupid idea was this anyway? It's far too bloody frustrating trying to choose songs that influenced me. Bands yes. I could even go down to album level but again I'm pushing myself too hard by trying to say "this song not only influenced me but the songs I write these days sound like this". It's bullshit. It's a waste of time.

I'm listening to Live's "throwing copper" for the first time in a while. This is another of the tapes I have for ages. Back when I had about ten tapes. I fscking love some of these tracks. "The Dam At Otter Creek" is the kind of build-up rock I love. "Stage" is fantastic and "T.B.D." and "Waitress" still blow me away. The singles shit me to tears though as they have been killed by over playing which is a real pity because "I Alone", "Selling The Drama" and "All Over You" are good songs.

Screw this shitty idea. I'm going to make a CD of bands that influenced me and pick songs i like. My guess for Live is "Dam At Otter Creek" or "Stage".

Why the hell do I do these things to myself?

On this day...  #

Saw the "on this day" link on Scripting News and thought I'd check out my past. New link on the left, "First Post" for those interested in my beginnings. Closest to today is 11th July 2000.

Interestingly it is a post displaying my excitement for starting work at MP3.com.au and how busy I was (compared to my previous Ericsson job). I indicate to the world that most of my sources were from Slashdot.org, and I inform the world of my discovery of Dream Theater.

I've discovered a website or two other than Slashdot these days, but Dream Theater still rock, at least the "Memories" album does.

Speaking of MP3.com.au I've spent the last week fixing masses of bad code and dodgy server set ups to speed everything up. It's finally running "a billion times better". Which is nice. And timely. Bring on another couple'o'million hits!

Damn it.

Walken are looking at APRA membership. Simply write some songs, perform them live or have them played on the radio and APRA will organise your royalties for you. Although I don't want to do it for the royalties, the idea really being to officially register the band and our songs to make the future easier. Don't want your drummer suing you in 20 years time because he wrote the drum lines for the songs and didn't get the 0.12 cents royalties owed to him. No offence Bruce. Besides, pretty sure it's free so why not? We'll see if we can be bothered.

Tickets for moi and my girlfriend are headed my way. Pretty steep pricing though, AUS$45ish. Damn Australian dollar. Nuts when you concider I can see Regurgitator for $17. A few years ago I saw Midnight Oil at the corner for $25. But when you concider that I've read many times that "all overseas artists will be charging $100 for tickets this year" its cheap.

Looks like I won't be seeing Regurgitator on the 17th of August as expected. With a party on Saturday and Famtomas on Sunday I don't think I'll be up for that much excitement in a weekend. Besides, I'll have the album by then! Seven more sleeps.
