I was in JB HiFi today. So was the DVD of "Cannibal - The Musical", Trey Parker's first real film effort. I've only seen the first few minutes of this film but bought it for completions sake. I'm sure much of it is awful but how could I pass this up?
I thought my subscription to the Bjork fan magazine "Telegram" had died in the great credit cancellation of a few months ago. However Monday I received the three mags and Unplugged CD owed to me! Much joy! The Unplugged CD, entitled "Celebrating Wood and Metal" contains 6 tracks of very very raw Bjork. I remember seeing this gig on ABC in 1996 and thinking Bjork was crap, but I was a lot different back then. The performance is almost entirly Bjork. The instrumentation is very very minumal provided by real instruments attempting to mimick the nutzoid cut up beats and riffs of the album versions while Bjork's massive voise towers above shattering all. Excellent stuff. Well worth the effort. The magazines themselves are Tabloid sized folded four page image/interview/word/lyric fests that would please most fans if only for the excellent photos.
