This article describing New Yorker dealings with the loss of their skyline got me thinking. How would Sydney deal with the loss of the Opera House, or more importantly, the Harbour Bridge? Actually, a much more acurate simile would be Tower Point... but not really. As the article says, so many logos in New York, from the news to the firefighters badges, have the New York skyline with the towers on it. In Sydney it's the Bridge, or the Opera House. It's so unique. It's so strange. Otherworldly.

Just when I was thinking the only good thing on Nick (Foxtel kids TV show) was Rugrats, last sunday I stumble on Invader Zim. A fantastic cartoon about an alien invader sent to Earth to take over and his trusty robot Gir. Very well animated with suitable evil imagery and amusing lines from the slightly mental Gir and the insane Zim vs. the-only-human-who-knows-Zims-secret Dib. After watching the first two eps I wanted to watch it all day. *sigh*
