Given the past ultra-(un)orthedox methods of the Taliban, is it really any surprise that they stopped fighting less than a week before Ramadan? Especially with the current hard-core threats. Since when did the Taliban need control of Afghanistan to "continue it's war against America" anyway? I wouldn't be celebrating anything yet...

Dave reminded me of his post on the Beauty And The Beast topic a while back :

The brown/blue eyed example never sat well with me because it's a difference that is barely noticable, it's ridiculous... which is of course the point of the example. All 'isms/phobia are ridiculous.

The local music industry received a shot in the arm yesterday when the State Government allocated $1.8 million over three years towards recording and touring costs for contemporary artists.

You know the biggest problem with news? It's not what they tell you but what they don't tell you. This article has no context. How much did unsigned artists get in the last three years? Is $1.8m more or less? Is it allocated differently now? The article says $1000 to bands to help them do demos and $15,000 to bands to help them do CDs. How is that different? Did artists get any money at all in the last three years?
