America has "brought up the idea" of the draft (aka conscription) again (via Null). I can see Johnie pricking his ears up at that. I can vaguely see a point to increasing local protection (ie. airport security) but surely that can be done by improving security guard salaries and more training for police?

KaZaA (another Napster, sorta) has been asked by Dutch courts to shut down (via Null Device). With Audio Galaxy filtering pretty much everything of use, the list of "try-before-you-buy" (or "get-because-you-can't-buy" in the case of the latest Patton related project Lovage) options is getting pretty small. Get a friend in the US and get ICQ or set up FTP.

Subject URL: Top 10 Albums of 2001

Expect some Top 10 Albums carnage on RAN soon. Rory has started it off. I was going to do a top 10 for this year a couple of days ago but figured there was still a month to go and a lot can happen in a month. Regurgitator's Ed & Rod will be on there that's for sure, and the new Fantomas one. I'm not sure I even bought ten albums that came out this year....
