Subject URL: CD (album) sales down because...

RIAA releases 2001's sales figures for music. CD Album sales are down 2.3 percent. RIAA points finger at piracy. But what about...
  • The resession
  • September 11, 2001
  • DVD Music Video's 138% increase in sales
  • LP music's 3.7% increase in the US
  • 5% increase in sales in the UK
  • Hundreds of thousands of people subscribing to online music services who are likely to stop buying as many CDs.
  • Everyone boycotting music CD buying because of this sort of thing
  • AND piracy, which has always been around, and RIAA get a royalty from anyway (via tax on CDrs, blank tapes, digital copying hardward)

BTW : I'm Andrew Bowie. This is David Golding. Thanks for the link Dave (and Dave).
