Michael Eisner (CEO of Disney) writes about copyright and copy protection.

Abraham Lincoln would have loved the internet. But he would have hated the internet pirates who commandeer its high-speed circuits to steal.

Why must everyone bring up Abe when it comes to any issue at all about anything? Leave the guy alone. Don't even pretend to think want someone so long dead would have liked and not liked.

Dave of Scripting News politely replies.

Eisner is dangerously out on a limb. Napster wasn't a narrow thing. There were tens of millions of users. It was a cultural phenomenon, unlike anything Hollywood has ever manufactured. People know what nirvana looks like, we got a great demo, and that's what we want.

Napster is told to not restart it's free music sharing service. Except it already said it wouldn't, months ago, they're working on a paid service (the horror). Napster had a big sook and went to it's room shouting, "it's not fair!". (via Scripting News)

Optus at Home ups rates  #

Optus@Home have informed me that they've dropped their Warp Speed Plan ($69.95 a month) and now everyone must be on the Lightning Fast Plan ($74.95 a month). Both plans were identical anyway except Warp Speed people had either paid more for installation or had been with Optus for 12 months or more. So much for rewarding loyalty.

They're still advertising Warp Speed Plans though...

And my health insurance went up $20 a month too. Still cheaper than Medicare levy (I think)...

Update : No you fool... I'm thinking of the Medicare Levy Surcharge which this year I shouldn't be paying. Everyone who earns over $50k a year pays 1% extra tax if you do not have private Health Insurance. That means if you make $49,900 (without Heath Insurance) you earn more (after tax) than someone who earns $50,000 (without Heath Insurance). But that's life init? EVERYONE pays the normal 1.5% Medicare Levy. Joy!
