The net makes number 1s!  #

Hey... Eminem's album leaks out early and "millions" of people download it... and when it's released it goes straight to number 1. Spiderman the movie ends up on the net... and it's the best performing movie release ever. Jumping to the most insane conclusions possible (as taught to me by the RIAA and MPAA) it just may be possible that putting someone on the web pushes it to number one! Go pirates, go pirates...

Damn it's cold...

Marketing  #

Why must companies always hide their price changes behind marketing crap. I'm not stupid you know. My Optus@Home cable charges just went up.

We're introducing four new OptusNet Cable plans to replace your existing Lightning Fast plan on 1 August 2002. So now you can choose the plan that best suits you.

The four new plans are usage-based, so you only pay for the amount of data you download each month - making access to cable Internet fairer for everyone.

Well... it would be fairer if the average usage plan went down. Further on they explain that most of their users use under 3 Gig. But the new 3 Gig plan is $5 more a month than the previous unlimited plan we've all been on.

But in an interesting difference to the Telstra plan, if we go over our magical limits we won't be charged extra or even cut off. No, we'll just be speed limited to 28.8k. Fair enough I suppose.

I'd drop to the 550Meg plan except... 550 Meg? Come on... I'd do that in e-mail.
