Bought the new Transformers comic, Armada today, still to read. Issue four of G1 comic out this week but not today. DVD boxed set of full Transformers Season 1 out now.

Maybe I could design Transformers for a living?

Part of my brain had me thinking i could move into a career in creating DVDs. I'd love it. I spend half my time converting audio to CD and fixing it up, would love to do it for movies. Diving through old footage, creating extra menus, talking to producers.

Except... DVD is already dead. In five seconds another format will be out that is better. Coding for DVD would be as annoying as coding HTML. There is a standard, except the broswer (or DVD player) that X% of the market use doesn't follow the standard so you have to code for that. Maybe it's not like that, but I bet it is.

And then there is the bet that most DVD production studios are actually just a guy out the back with a big machine and some crap DVD-IT software to throw a menu together. Given the insides of some record companies I've seen I wouldn't be surprised.

But I want to be wrong. So I'm looking harder. But not just at this job. It's a healthy interest in change. Being a consultant is.... draining.
