Subject URL: .blog

There are some ideas being thrown up at the moment for one of the new top level domains to be .blog. I'm not really sure it's a good idea... what is a blog? To me it's mearly a tool, like front-page, a way of doing a website. Do we want a .frontpage? .html? .radio? It's not like .news where you know for sure it's a news site. A .blog site could be anything that just happens to be written a blog tool. So will it only be for "diary" type blogs or would a news service type blog be allowed under there. What I'm trying to get across here is that eventually .blog will become as meaningless as .com and .net and .org almost always are at the moment...

Then you get into arguements about whether the current URL method of accessing the web is falling to bits and I just can't be stuffed right now.
