Christmas and all that...  #

Saw Regurgitator last night at the Prince Of Wales in St. Kilda. I'm so used to seeing them at the Corner (I've seen them three times there) so it was weird from the beginning...

To start with I had the Meanies mixed up with the Cosmic Psychos so I was a bit surprised (these guys look younger than I remember and isn't that guy in Even?) but they rocked anyway. How many songs can you start with machinegun guitar riffs and a scream?

Gurge have been on holidays for about a year so I knew they'd be loose but I was really expecting a Greatest Hits show pretty much exactly like the last Corner show I went to (just before Edwardo came out).

But what we got was stripped back naked punk Gurge. Just Quan, Ben and Pete. No laptop, no Shane, no key-tah. Sure, they pulled out the backing tape for C'mon, Hallaballoo, Song Formally Known As and Fat Cop but the rest stripped back to it's roots. Superstraight was just basic chords, with none of the main riff. Polyester Girl and Happiness were turned into excellent little Modern Life-esque gems. And the guys were having more fun than I've seen before. We got Track 1 (with no intro), Kong Foo Sing with "Sweet Child Of Mine" riff intro, Social Disaster (Quan had to drag Pete back on the stage for this on), a little "Walk This Way" riff in "Fat Cop". And for a hot night it was good to see the Prince of Wales only just a little packed. Lots of room to jump around and dance. Excellent night ooot.

Except that parking is now $10. And you have to pay at those stupid pre-pay machines. Anyway...

Oh yeah, Christmas. I got stuff. Lollies even. I'm on holidays until the 20th of Jan. Not much to say when you're high above the mucky muck.

Best thing on the net? (turn your sound on)

Big Fat Pile Of Steaming Blame.
