New guitar sounds much better when distorting out than my last one. Although clean tone is a little muddy. Have to keep playing I think.
The band made up a new song last night too. Always a really nice feeling making up a new song. Makes it feel like you're still functioning as a band. If you keep playing the some old stuff eventually you start to feel like a cover band... but the stuff you're coving is your own made up years ago and stale.
Went to Werribee zoo last Friday. Fantastic place. Assuming you like fuzzy animals and/or Rhinos and/or Giraffes. Hopefully lots of excellent photos. The new baby Rhino. Giraffes sitting down, something they rarely do in the wild (these Gs have figured out long ago that a lion is just as likely to get into their paddock as the Girraffes are likely to get out). And of course, monkeys, both baby and baby makers. I'm a big animal softy at heart. Oh yeah, and Hippos.
Movies : Baraka is excellent. As is Hellraiser for different reasons. However Hellbound : Hellraiser 2 is just Tron. Was Rubix cube invented before or after these movies? Before I believe. The documentory Grass is excellent, as is Michael Moore's Bowling For Columbine.
Michael's book "Stupid White Men" is also door opening, although his style can be frustrating. Like talking to a friend who is stuck on one side of the wall and won't look over the other side... a lot like reading a blog actually. That chattery ranting sort of speach.
Bill Bryson's "Lost Continent" is frustrating to say the least. It's a catalog of his trip around small town America is consists mostly of "wow this mountain was pretty" or "this small town is full of hotels, shopping malls and tourist shit", surrounding such words are lots of Michael Moore-esque facts and figures on how crazy America is. And the bastard didn't go the San Francisco, although his couple of pages on New York explains why. Mostly "glad I didn't get killed, gee it's dirty". I enjoyed it, but it got a little dull.
I've been busy during the holidays see...
Music : I've bought almost nothing but have been listing to a few old bands I've never really paid much attention to before... Snout, You Am I, Ammonia. Don't think I'll keep my attention on them. Lots of old Faith No More concerts. Weezer. Ween. David Bowie. Regurgitator. Tomahawk.
The new Rage Against the Gargen album, "Audioslave" is OK. It's much more Soundgarden with Rage's rythmn section than the other way around. I'm thinking Chris had a lot of input into the music as well as the lyrics. It's quite long too. Almost as if they put everything they wrote on there in the assumption there wouldn't be another one.
Futurama Season 1 DVD boxset is the best set of DVDs I've bought. Much of the season was gold, particularly the pilot. The commentaries are very interesting and amusing with the director, writer, creator and voices. Red Dwarf Season 1 set is also excellent.
When I return to work next Monday I'll be working under new upper management. My company will have merged with another. Will anything be different? I suspect nothing at my level or I'd have heard something.
