Heath (vox and opinions) + Bruce (producer) come around tonight to work on recordings. Been working on a couple of songs and have a few rough mixes done. Getting close to the guitar sound I want on one song, the other needs work. All need bass and vocals redone and some serious mixing/production magic done to the drums. I'm hanging to get something close to done so I can start playing it to people.

Is there really any difference in downloading a TV show episode and watching it on VCD than there is taping on VCR it from TV? Particularly if you only ever plan to watch it once. It all comes down to advertising...

Tried both new and old computers on the TV yesterday. Old computer worked a treat for MP3/SHN/WAV but video playback of anything other than lowish quality DivX or RealVideo is a bit jerky. I'm not sure if a new video card would fix this or I'd need a new processor... or both. Either way, the temptation to turn it into a multimedia box is growing.

Note for all. Computer monitors look approximately a billion times better than a TV when reading text. I'm sure you knew that...

The new computer's TV output is better (non-jerky playback on anything, less black border) so maybe I'll just drag that into the lounge room when required, although the thought of unplugging and replugging the hundred and one video/audio cables i have back there isn't exciting me.

I had to spend three hours finding and installing the correct drivers for the video card though to gain access to the TV-out. WinXP helpfully installed the Microsoft default nVidia drivers for me, without the card specific extras.

Funky extra... I can use both the TV and the monitor on my new computer at once, making for a double screen sized desktop. I can watch TV/videostreams/whatever on the TV monitor and work/read on the good monitor. The effort gone into technology I'll never use, if only because I've nowhere to put the TV in the computer room.

I must say I really do like XP's ability to rollback to a previous setup when required. While frigging about I accidently installed over my capture drivers... although if I wasn't having so many problems reinstalling drivers I wouldn't NEED to have to rollback. Works both ways I suppose. I've probably said this before.

Hey, isn't this boring...

Focus on the music... focus on the music...

Does anyone want an external 5.25" SCSI box with own power supply? Holds two 5.25" SCSI devices. I'll even throw in my old SCSI card, SCSI connector cable and 4x SCSI CD-Writer for free. Name your price. Melbourne people only.

Bunch of other (computer and music related) Andrew sell out stuff coming soon. I might even build my own eBay to deal with it. Damn I'm lame.
