If you're having problems with Windows XP auto update (where everything is detecting correctly and downloading but all fail to install) try renaming your c:\WINDOWS\System32\CatRoot2\ directory. Problem might be caused by the files in this directory (related to cryptography) have become corrupted after a System Restore. Worked for me. Was hoping it'd fix my "Access Denied" issue with the Driver install Wizard and my Leadtek Win2000XP capture card but no.
