Terminator 3 was pretty damn bad. I was prepared to put up with a bit but no, 'tis crap. It was like one of those Star Wars novels. The discussions of new ideas they've added to the storyline will be far more interesting. I almost wish the original ending of T2 was left in (you know, the one with the Olsen twin in it) so T3 could never happen. OK, it's not THAT bad...

Work... Got offered to go work in Sydney... permanently. No... not with the band here, and all my friends... my life. I can't move now. Looks like I'll be taking August off rather than the previously discussed part-time. Yay / Damn. The band is going to attempt to record in mid August to make the most of the time. Update: Confirmed some time booked for 16th August.

Still can't afford to buy a house:

The Commonwealth Bank and Housing Industry Association reported yesterday that in the June quarter the typical first home buyer had to pay $335,800 to buy a home in Melbourne, 21/2 times as much as they paid when the boom began in 1996.

... assuming a 10 per cent deposit, households now require a minimum pre-tax income of $63,200 to service their loan. The bar

has risen 46 per cent in the past two years, while average household income has risen just 6 per cent.

In Melbourne, young people saving to buy their first home have seen the [monthly repayments] rise from $801 a month in 1996 to $1822 in 2003.

Finished Robots and Empire. I remember the end now. It's definitely a "fill in the gaps" book. Reading Greg Bear's Legacy. Hard sci-fi. The writing style is annoying me. And it's less interesting than the book it's a sequel to (Eon). It might get better. Again, I believe I have read this before, but none of it rings any bells.

Nice feedback so far from the Cornish Arms gig. We just found out SYN radio (community radio in Melbourne) has played our track Glory. We believe they got it off the Wireless Records compilation. Thanks dudes.

Party on Saturday. Excellent party. So good to have friends within $10 taxi fare from my place. So good to have friends with good taste in music. A machine full of MP3s and a giant TV with MP3-player interface is a must at all parties.

Almost finished backing up all of my singles. MP3s should be less than 4.8 Gb. The magical number, calling me to buy a DVD writer. So far it has been excellent to have a catalog of my b-sides available at the click of a mouse. Nothing worse than trying to find an obscure song in a box of hundreds of singles.

Everyday I get a referer for someone searching on my name. In the piles of "silverback gorilla" and "[insert band] MP3" there is always the welcoming "Andrew Bowie" that someone has typed into Google and happened upon this page. Who is searching for me? Is it other another Andrew Bowie? Maybe they're looking for the jazz sax playing professor of German Andrew Bowie? Is it my friends? Who? Some crazy bot gone mad? Maybe it's SkyNet.

It's a short film, with Batman in it. See it.
