No... wait... OK... I'm not. Bloody hell!
Pauline's in jail for three years. It does seem a little harsh. I mean... I could probably kill someone in a drunken rage and get less time... but then, that isn't right either. Those who feel sorry for her should remember she has been convicted in a court of law for stealing half-a-million dollars of YOUR money (assuming you're an Australian tax payer). A lot of polies are sticking up for her, most likely because they're all just as guilty of similar electoral fraud. I won't pretend to know the facts of the case though so I'll shut up. And I like the way no-one cares that David Ettridge has been put away too. It's barely mentioned.
Everyone going on about this crazy SoBig.F worm and I havn't had a single email. I'm guessing my ISP blocks them. Speaking of my ISP, they very nicely sent an email explaining why my net connection was broken on Sunday. Thank you.
Saw John Elliot walking down Collins Street at lunch time today. He had a big obvious perve at a girl sitting having coffee in front of Starbucks. Pigs arse.
My browser on this PC seems to have been infected with some adware. I'd get it off but my work has blocked lavasoft's website, and planetmirror, and i can't even use a different browser because the proxy needs MS authentication and Opera can't deal with it.
Article in The Age about the axing of Micallef Tonight.
A fan of Christopher Walken in the UK just bought one of our singles from Rare Records.
Jhonen Vasquez's latest comic is out and in my filthy hands. More on that later.
I guess those Austrian's havn't been getting any. Giant beaver indeed.
The Age has nice things to say about the remake hommage The Italian Job. Alex doesn't agree, the original being his all time favourite film.
Ringtones sell almost as well as CD singles do (via RockNerd). Reminds me of my jukebox discussion. People are happy to pay $2 to hear a song they like once but not happy to pay $5 to buy a song they song and own it forever.
Every second-hand record store you walk into these days has a single section filled with promotional releases... that is, they're not singles that people have bought and then decided the didn't want... they're freebees given to radio stations that have been illegally on-sold as second-hand. Those stickers that say "this CD remains the property of the record company" aren't kidding. Rocknerd has the rumour some record company people have been busted for it.
The ACCC has rejected a recent complaint about the EMI CD copy-protection (via Rocknerd again).
Mono.net discussion on smoke free band venues. I went and saw Fourplay/George at The Prince Of Wales in St. Kilda a while back and that was a smoke free gig. Apparently the Metro in Sydney is completely smoke free now. I'm all for it, especially as someone who plays at smoke filled venues every couple of weeks. Not sure the smoking half of my band would agree. Promo CDs, the MP3 of the early 90s.
On a happier note, my parents return from a year long overseas trip soon. They just saw Amien Cathedral.
Work's asking people to move to Syndey. I couldn't afford to live in Sydney, even ignoring the fact there is no way in hell I'm leaving Melbourne (see friends, band, best-city-in-world).
Apparently this blog entry was written by a women. Statistics can tell you anything you want.
Walking Melbourne, excellent resource on Melbourne's buildings (via Dave). I'm tempted to send them some photos. In between my last job and this I took a couple of weeks off. In that time I walked around Melbourne taking photos of some of our excellent buildings. It was just after the World Trade Centre terrorist attack.
I tried to get on top of that building in Swanston Street near Flinders Street station where you can get on the roof but it's all been locked down. Bloody terrorists. I have a great photo of Fed. Square being built that I wanted to top off with a "completed" photo but it's not going to happen now without a grappling hook.
EMI are going to release an iTunes clone by christmas. I guess they've invented a music file format that makes your CDr unplayable in the car.
