More on the BBC Digitisation and distribution thang. Who cares if it isn't free? I'd happilly pay to get access to old Live At The BBC shows etc. I'd happilly pay for Triple J's old Live At The Wireless too. The idea of having EVERY live show ever on Triple J available in a huge list, downloadable with a click and small donation of $X makes the drown in drool. I want to be involved in making it happen. I'd do it for cheap. I might even do it for free.

The Astor, a Melbourne cinema that constantly plays cult classics and old films in new giant prints, is cooled than I ever expected...

We have our own film distribution library called Chapel Distribution, which has the MGM/UA/WB classics libraries as well as many others. We negotiate to buy the rights, pay for the production of new prints and import them. It's all a very expensive exercise that rarely turns a profit, but it's what we do, and, I feel it's an important part of the Astor's reason for existence - to be able to see these great films in a theatrical setting with big picture and sound.

They're worried about losing their audience to DVD of course. Audience attendance is down. Go now! Go see what all that Clint Eastwood fuss is about and see the new giant directors cut restored The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, on for the next three weeks.

A few nice photos from The Age's My Melbourne section...

Modern art.

Damn nice shot over Albert Park from the Rialto buildings at dusk.

I have next Thursday off. And next Tuesdays. And all days starting with T until the end of September. Crazy!
