Is there a handover period for governments? When Labor won against the Liberals in Victoria did Labor walk into offices full of lovely documentation or did they just start from scratch? What's Arnie going to do? In the middle of a massive crisis (California fires) do they just hand over the responsibility at the required time or work together?

For someone who has previously been involved in Victoria elections, I can't tell you how nice it is to now have a solid date for all future elections, the last Saturday of November every four years. The ALP press release on the parliament reforms. In previous elections an election can be called any time in the last year of the four year term, meaning anyone involved in the election needs to be ready for that entire year, just in case. There is a boundary redivision in the works too. I'd like to hear a non-ALP view on the changes. My views are biased toward making the running of the election easier.

MSNBC asks who needs radio? (the article is more "who needs the RIAA?")

I'm already beginning to ask "who needs TV"?

The APRA suit against MP3s4Free.com isn't going well. The site never actually contained a single MP3 [rocknerd.org], only links to sites that did. I believe there is no law against linking to copyright material in Australia. A Rocknerd commenter points out that even though this was a civil suit APRA was given permission to raid and take equipment and access logs from both the runner of the site and the site's ISP.
