Don't do drugs or you'll grow a goatee  #
Friday, 07 Nov 2003 10:34PM
LawForKids.org is on drugs. Their Marijuana comic is typical of the message they're trying to get across... that is, do drugs and you'll turn into a good looking airconditioning repair man at a pool. Don't do drugs, and dis people who have cool drug type hats, and you'll turn into a doped out corporate zombie.

Actually, I reckon these are all "you put in the last panel" comics. Like this one where a friend dobs in his mate. The last panel would be his bloodied corpse being kicked by his remaining friends.

I may see Matrix 3 this weekend, I may not. So far I haven't seen a good thing said about it (except in published reviews, which I ignore for the thinly veiled paid-propaganda that they are), however Dave loved it. I believe Damien liked it too.

The young school kids on the train hated it, then spent ten minutes bagging one of their friends for hating films that had no end... then morphed into talks of the original version of Blade Runner vs. the Directors Cut.

The general public hating a film, while some of my trusted friends love it, points to an excellent film, but we shall see.

I had a Matrix vs. Star Wars daydream on the train today. I was excellent. Star Wars (Droid army, Episode II era) won. Have it coming, Neo did.

I'm going to mess with the design here a bit later. The template is currently using horrible table layouts and font tags and it's finally got to the point that it's bugging me enough to fix it. Colour scheme will likely stay similar to now, but thinking a dark background for the whole site but the news items / stories with light backgrounds. Hmm...

Stuff that still sucks about weblogs.com  #
Friday, 07 Nov 2003 12:44PM
Every now and then I poke around the backend of this site and discover new features they've put in. There are still two things that really really annoy me about weblogs.com:

  • I cannot change the email address of the site owner (me)
  • News Items can only display their created date in US format (mm/dd/yyyy)

But the effort to host it all myself is too hard so I'll stay ;p

Writing my own blogging software would be an enjoyable piece of chocolate cake, importing four years of old posts would not be...

Double Time! Hut hut hut!  #

Working on Satuday for four hours, but I get a whole day off for it (probably next Friday), which is nice, except for the whole stuffing up the best part of the weekend thing... although I'd most likely have only have been watching Heath recording vocals. I still have some of the afternoon to play with, might drive to Rare Records and pay him the money I owe him and maybe drive to Dandenong and cruise the second hand CD stores.

I-hate-my-job-too quote of the day:

Just as we get to the end of the express part of the train trip, the driver cmes on the line and says, "We're coming up to [the station] now and are around 8 minutes late. I'm sorry for these constant delays, I realise it's frustrating but not half as frutrating as working here."

Trains around 5 to 5:30 on my line are almost always late and or cancelled.

Playstation's Digital Polly Pocket  #

I heartily endorses this event or product. [VM]

Sony's handheld Playstation PSP looks nice [The Register]. Of course I'm only interested in using it to play MP3 and video. Hopefully hardware like this will make the "cheapy" stuff like CD MP3 players much cheaper. You can already get an ID3 displaying, CDr/CDRW playing, MP3 capable CD walkman for $200 from a big name manufacturer. Consume people. CONSUME!

Miss Digital World [via everyone]. How long before someone gets kicked out of the comp for using a photo of a real model?

IRC Chat archives on Google [The Register]. The final frontier.
