Short... I can see why Peter Jackson loved it.

Tomahawk @ Palace 12th December 2003  #
Sunday, 14 Dec 2003 06:29PM
Same beginning only this time it was raining. Ate at Greasy Joes, and wandered down around 7:30 to sit at the front of the line. We got in at 8 and ran to get t-shirts. Attempts to go out again (to dump shirts in the car) failed, no pass outs until 9:30, after Fantomas start.

Fantomas on around 9:15 and they were much better than the night before. This time we moved right up the front, around four people from the barier on the Mike Patton side and watched in awe. Excellent sound that close up. Watching the band communication, slight nods from Mike, shakes of the head, smiles, yelling. Clinton "Bar" Mckinnon (Mr Bungle's sax player) came out and played for I believe "Twin Peaks" [2004 edit: it was actually "Experiment In Terror"] and Mike's solo DJ set. We stayed where we were until Melvins came on and finished the "with Patton" song.

We hung out in the bar and drank until 11:30.

Tomahawk came on around 11:45 and we were around six people from the front, on the bass player (right) side. Good view of everyone except the drummer on his impossibly low seat. Tomahawk played a little looser I think but with more energy than last night. Three song encore, varied (re-order) set with I think more tracks from the first album this time (they played "Jockstrap" anyway). It's been too long for me to remember the banter very well, but Mike had a go at veagans. Dave got up the front with the moshing morons for a bit and "saw the sweat dripping from Patton's nose onto the keyboard" before being headbutted a few times and being forced to leave. The end of the encore saw the drummer throw his drumsticks into the audience which caused a little bit of carnage for a few seconds and lots of amusing crawling on the filthy floor.

Patton ended the show with "see you next year".

Again a huge array of digital technology recorded the show...
