"From 99 cents." A quick search of the site for EMI posterboy Robbie Williams sees his tracks on sale for $1.99. David Bowie is $1.99 too. Looks like pretty much everyone is $1.99.
From memory single tracks on DestraMusic used to be around $3.50.
I see JB HiFi has joined the WiredRecords/Destra team of retailers. They need to fix their stylesheet.
Hmmm. Regurgitator's full back catalog (including b-sides) used to be on WiredRecords but they're gone now [they're not on Warner anymore...]. Their version of "I See Red" with the lesser Finn brother is there though.
So that's it people, it's been thrown down. $1.99 a track, burnable to CD up to 3 times. Windows Media format. Too much?
Nearly every band I searched for came up nothing. Spiderbait, Soundgarden, Powderfinger, Regurgitator.
Silverchair came up with 5 tracks. Sonic Animation has the E-Ville single and all it's b-sides. Alex Lloyd's whole catalog seems to be there. Like anyone cares. Gorillaz. Megadeth. Pink Floyd. The crap Beatle. RdotEdotMdot. Living End. Mavis's. Tea Party. Violent Femmes. 28 Days. Coldplay. etc. etc. etc.
Just thinking. The longer it takes for this sort of thing to take off. The less music that is going to be available on these things as more artists jump off the big labels (see Regurgitator).
Looks like the concept of albums has been completely removed from the site. I can only seem to get a list of single tracks (all $1.99 by the look of it, havn't see any $0.99 tracks yet). So no cheaper if you buy the whole album deals.
