Triple J's Hottest 100 2004  #

I could have predicted this years Hottest 100 but it's not much of a call. Bit of a farce to see three Powderfinger songs in the top 10, and Rockin' Rocks (about the only song I actively like on the new album) wasn't one of them. Outkast's decent videos carrying their OK songs, same with White Stripes, Coldplay's piano riff, that hechklow hechklow song. I'm thinking the new way of voting this year poluted the waters a bit*. Far to easy to just vote for a whole band rather than a song. You can see it by how often bands songs are grouped together.

* This year voters had to register online and choose songs from a pre-provided list. You could vote for a song outside the list but most people wouldn't bother. You could vote for up to ten songs.

Speaking of random awards, Steve Waugh's Australian of the year. I haven't seen John Howard that happy for a while. I don't know why he bothered opening the envelope...

And the cheapest way to put a man on Mars? Outsource it to India.
