I wonder if people would want peanuts if you could download them off the net. I wonder if they could make peanuts come out of the radio for free would people buy them?
When was the last time you bought a peanut? Peanuts are something you just get for free. People buy peanuts to give to other people for free. I'm sure there are hundreds of people out there who buy more peanuts for other people than for themselves. Peanuts are just there when you go to your local pub. When you go to a party. Peanut night clubs where the peanut people go.
If you had to buy your music at the pub in little silver packets with half a song in each would you bother? What about 99 cents a peanut from some peanut dispenser and you could only eat that peanuts when you were holding the dispenser.
Do you expect free peanuts on the plane? What about ten channels of different flavoured yet entirely unoffensive and uniquely boring peanuts?
How much of something do you have to get for free before buying it seems kind of stupid?
People who buy music are the kinds of people who want to hear more than what they can get for free. I'm one of those people.
How many people buy a pack of mixed nuts, pick their favourite nut and then only buy that nut? Nutty people.
Update: I might argue that peanuts are merely an ingredient in the total package called peanut butter but I think I'd be stretching the analogy a bit. You're prepared to pay to use peanuts in the format you prefer and that is your choice.
