Tea Party and Vince Dicola together at last  #
Wednesday, 24 Mar 2004 06:57PM
Looks like the new Tea Party CD will be half produced by Bob Rock of "he's the guy that f**ked up Metallica" fame. I think it could really work. I've really enjoyed the heavier feel the band's last album had. Maybe Bob'll give'em a bit more of that pop-rock-metal edge.

Meanwhile, I purchased more MP3s yesterday. Vince Dicola has released his latest "album" on the net. Works in a similar way to the VAST demos. Enter your details, get sent an email a few hours later with a username and password. Seems to use NT challenge response to enter a page with some normal MP3 download links. MP3s were 192kbps which is a nice change from VAST's shitely compressed 128kbps. 10 tracks for US$8.99. He also provided PDF album art.

The album art is pretty dodgy, looks like it was thrown together in seconds (bad font image compression on the track listing, lots of pixelization). I'm loving musicians releasing their music this way but this effort seemed awfuly cheap and nasty.

Still, US$8.99 is cheaper than US$12 + US$10 postage or whatever the last Vince Dicola indie release cost me.

The album itself remains unheard.
