Ride to work  #
Wednesday, 14 Apr 2004 06:54PM
I rode into the city and back yesterday. I rode up beautiful bike path that follows the train/freeway from East Malvern train station (Glen Waverley line). I originally intended to only get to Glen Iris station and ride back but after not that long (an hour? less?) I found myself in Federation Square. It's a very easy ride, I got all the way to the city without being the least bit tired. I rode and walked around that area (including looking at those crazy Federation Bells [photos by Ana Susanj]) for a bit taking some photos of the city and the MCG being built, then rode on to the Shrine of Remembrance. Couldn't go inside due to the bike but wandered around a little. The facade sculpture of the crucified soldier is a little disturbing...

Rode around the (not in) the Royal Botanical Gardens then back along the other side of the Yarra River (I came into the city along the Burnley boardwalk). Lots of other people riding, all rather friendly, except those that looked like they were going to die. I might have been one of them.

Holidays are great. Wasted much of today waiting for my "hour processing" photos to develop (three hours later...). No phonecalls from work which is a very nice change.
