Well it's time to dump your piece of crap Minidisc recorders and go out and buy an iriver HD320 or HD340. As soon as they upgrade the firmware to allow WAV file playback and record I'll have it.

Direct USB 2.0 transfer of recorded files. Mounts as a stand-alone USB storage device (ie. no software required).

This thing will save me so many hours transfering my band's practice recordings to the computer. Hey... it would be cool if it did automatic track marking or something, cutting up the wav files for me. *happy shudder*

Check it out.

Unfortuantely it's about $650. Damn it. I could probably import it much cheaper from the US if I cared enough.

Can't find any official word on it's sound quality although I'm told it isn't terrible and comparable to a cheap minidisc player, which is what I currently use.

And I do still have that early 90s paranoia about hard disks... It just doesn't seem safe.
