The tale of the lost diamond  #

Back in September last year, my band "WALKEN" played a gig for RMITV's Kickstart program to raise funds. This favour was paid out on Friday night by providing us with a quicky video for a couple of our songs.

The night was frustrating but mostly fun and we look forward to seeing the results. Maybe they'll put in some of the hissy fits for extra funny.

During the night the tiny diamond from my engagement ring came out. It was recently recoated and I think that losened it just enough. I've played scores of gigs and jams with the ring and never had a problem. Just unlucky.

I didn't notice until I started driving home so in theory it could have been anywhere. Being so small I never expected to find it, but I assumed it would be on the floor in the the film studio. I left messages and emails and hoped it wouldn't get vacuumed before I had a chance to look. All weekend I assumed it lost.

Today (Tuesday) at 10am I got a call saying the place hadn't been open since we left and I could look, but had to look before 12 as other people were coming in then.

Jumped on a tram, into the studio and started looking, 10 minutes later I found it! Within a 2 metre radius of where I was playing most of the night. Amazing luck. The smooth concrete floor painted black helped. It should have stuck to someone's shoe, or stuck to the wheels of the camera trolleys that had rolled over the spot all night, or been swept up or vacuumed up, or been lost outside of the studio... lucky lucky lucky.

I think I've used up all my finding things luck for this month.

Mental note: take off ring when playing guitar.
