A few months ago I suggested that we try releasing movies directly to DVD and Cinema at the same time and see what happens. My theoery is it'll at least reduce piracy as you'll have the option to walk out of the movie and buy it right there.

Yesterday, news broke that 2929 is doing just that, with Steven Soderbergh. The director will release six films through 2929 so that theater release, DVD and pay-TV all occur on the same day.

I'm REALLY interested to see how this goes.
