Fantomas remix Bjork  #

I highly recommend:

Bjork - Where Is The Line (Fantomas Remix)!

Only available for DRM encircled purchase from War Child Music.

[Direct link to page with Bjork, "Where Is The Line (Fantomas Remix)" for 0.99 UK pounds]

Although it sucks the big one that the track is only available in DRM (in "crappy" 196kps) their license is quite good. You may license the track on up to 3 computers. You may burn the track to CD (as many times as you like?) and you may transfer the track to portable players. The track is also available in both Windows WMA and an iPod/Mac friendly format.

AUS$2.50 seems a lot to buy one track... and it is. But I couldn't help myself... and the track is truely fantastic.

NASA World Wind  #

Update: Australian cities are available to search (in low rez) or purchase (*cough* for $14.95 an image *cough*) at http://www.city2see.com.au/. Also available is the not-free Google Keyhole which is very similar to World Wind. End Update

Had a play with NASA World Wind last night (via VM).

In one way it's like Google Maps only with a crapper and slower interface.

In another way it's like Google Maps except it's the whole world. Like gmaps the "ultra zoom" areas are only available for the US, and then only in major cities. However fairly good quality zooms of the rest of the world are available. I managed to zoom into Melbourne (hint, use the + and - keys) to a point you could identify major building landmarks (MCG etc.) and just make out the Melbourne CBD grid (from about 5-10km up).

I did kind of like the fact you start with a globe of the world which you can rotate, and then zoom from there. I just hate the buried "find a city" dialog.

There is no official word when "ultra zoom" maps (zoom to the point you can see your car) of "other than the US" will be available. I suspect there isn't much money in it.

The 170Meg+ file is distributed via bittorrent as well as direct download.
