Short term : Getting the band back to full capacity (with bass and drums), start practicing again, writing songs, gigs. Futurama Season 1 DVD boxset.Long term : Moving out. Living close to work. Travelling around Australia. Having Walken's music played on the radio. Having people I don't know buying our music. Making time to watch movies. Making time to read.
Really long term : Retiring early, travelling the world.
These are not resolutions. These are things that are going to happen.
The verdict so far...
Short term: We got a drummer, our bass player returned from Europe, we wrote some songs, released an EP and toured for two and a half years. Our drummer has since quit and the rest of the band has been on a year long break, writing songs. We jammed last weekend. It didn't suck. I have now watched and own all of the Futurama boxsets.
Long term: I moved out. Twice. Then bought a house. We don't live close to work, but we live within walking distance to the train and the commute isn't horrible. I'm still to travel Australia. My band's music was frequently played on SYN FM and rarely played on Triple R. A few people I don't know bought our CD. I watched lots of movies. I read a few books. Not enough.
The inference of the initial short and long term plans was that the band would continue to build from the initial jamming and gigging stage. We did. Slowly. Then we stalled but we're happy about it. I think otherwise we'd have burned out. We were well on the way. Maybe we are burnt out and we're in denial, but whatever it is it's still fun.
Really long term : Bit early for any of that methinks. Being relatively secure is a nice start. I'm sure I'll be able to make myself useful when they ban computers and the internet (and eating meat, I'm sure they'll ban that eventually).
So... current version of these plans? Wedding. Boring house stuff. Take holidays. Be creative (more). Catalog creativiness (less).
