The Games: Adventures on public transport  #

I've been leaving earlier than usual the last couple of days to avoid the public transport rush caused by the Games, but haven't really seen any major increase in patronage yet.

A few days ago I rushed to catch my bus from the train and as usual just missed it. I sat down and said something about being sick of just missing the bus and a nice couple with English accents said "oh, when is the next bus coming?". I presumed they were tourists. I said "15 to 20 minutes."

From the way they looked I could have just told them two hours, "is that because of all the peak hour traffic?" they asked, a little shocked. "No, 15 minutes between buses is good. Usually it's more like half an hour to 45 minutes outside of peak hour." The horror on their face spoke of thoughts of third-world countries and drinking out of ditches filled with dead animals.

"The weather is lovely" they added helpfully.

Bless 'em.
