We visited Melbourne Zoo on 25th June for my niece's 2nd birthday. I took some video. Here are some screenshots.

Border Security  #

An article today in The Age informs me that Border Security is far outrating Big Brother:

At its best, BB's live evictions average 1.386 million people, taking the 19th spot in the national top 20. The daily shows don't even make the list. But Border Security — starring real-life immigration, customs and quarantine officers and the idiots who try to foil them — had 2.196 million people tuning in last Tuesday night, making it the number one program in the country.

We both love this show, but not for the reasons described in the article. The article suggests it rates so well because people want to know that their country's borders are being secured, that it has something to do with terrorism.

I can promise you it's not, at least not for us.

We really like seeing stupid people get what is coming to them.

We get inspiration from watching how amazingly calm the customs officers remain when the person they are questioning is going completely insane.

To be honest, the parts of the show that involve catching boats in the open ocean make me feel a bit uneasy. I keep waiting for the day when they find some people smugglers. Usually it's illegal fishing.
