We sat in the second from front row. Close enough to be spat on. Literally.
Hearing the songs in the original order and context made the show that much better. And finally seeing the stage version enhanced the feeling that the movie did a brilliant job of bringing the story to the screen. A direct adaption could so easily have stunk, but the movie's setting, slight story changes and the little reworkings of the songs made it perfect.
The only thing wrong with the show is that it is effectively a rock gig. And to sit in a theatre and watch a rock gig seemed impossibly wrong. Imagine Mike Patton at his most insane, throwing himself around the stage and screaming, and a room full of people sitting. SITTING.
The whole crowd should have been moshing.
But otherwise, fantastic.
