A disturbing number of "best of" Faith No More CDs have hit the shelves lately. The original, "
Who Cares A Lot?", released on the year of their break-up, with it's excellent treasure trove of a bonus disc was all we needed. And yet we've been attacked with "
This Is It", "
The Platinum Collection" and worst of all, "
Epic and Other Hits" which appears to be mostly "The Real Thing" with some other tracks thrown in just 'coz.
I'll will admit "This Is It" isn't too bad as at least it includes "The Cowboy Song" and an attempt at "As The Worm Turns" although not the studio version, and the rarity "The Perfect Crime". I can't figure out the obsession with "Arabian Disco" though...
As a companion to the one-true-best-of I compiled my own best-of-the-rest compilation. I've only included album tracks and avoided any rarities or b-sides.
Have I committed any sins?
