Water restrictions hit microbrewery  #

Dave informs me that the Rifle Brigade Pub Brewery in Bendigo has closed their microbrewery due to water restrictions.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Personally given a choice between Australian grown cotton or rice and Australian grown microbrewery beer, I'd choose the beer.

The Age to get slimmer  #

I've made no secret of my hatred of the broadsheet newspaper format in the past, going as far as to email The Age about it.

Today Fairfax announced their intention to reduce the size of their broadsheet newspapers (The Age and The Australian). The height (59cm) will remain the same but the width (currently 41cm) will be reduced. Their announcement (PDF) indicated the New York Times as an example but they have not chosen a specific width yet.

The New York Times recently reduced it's width to 34.3cms and plans to reduce further to 30.5cms in April 2008.

I heartily endorse this event or product.

For comparison the Herald Sun seems to be around 30cm wide and 41cm high (ie. half broadsheet).

I read The Age at home on a dinner table. I can't read it anywhere else. I also add that their current idea of publishing some of the paper in tabloid and some in broadsheet annoys the sh*t out of me and is worse than if the whole paper were broadsheet.

Regurgitator update  #

Band In The Bubble concept sold to MTV with band Cartel to record their second album under the prying eyes of the public.

But more interesting to me is the news Regurgitator begin recording a new album in June.

Grindhouse split in Australia  #
Thursday, 26 Apr 2007 02:08PM
The Tarantino/Rodriguez double feature Grindhouse will be split into two movies in Australia, ruining much of the effect and appeal of the movie(s). What will happen with the fake trailers that were to top and tail each movie is yet to be confirmed.

The May 10 release date has been changed too. No confirmed release date now.

The movie(s) bombed in the US, with many walking out after the first movie unaware another was to follow.

To be honest, I was a bit worried about a three hour movie. I'm not sure my bladder is capable of three hours anymore.

Must be getting old.

I still plan to see both movies but will bit a bit irritated I'll have to pay twice to get less of the experience I was promised in the trailers and posters.

I presume there is nothing stopping the Astor or similar indie cinema from playing both in their original form.

Transforming shoes...  #

Optimus and Megatron as transforming shoes.

Why am I reminded of that bit in Big where Tom Hanks is trying to play with the transforming building...
