At $12 admission the Skydeck 88 observation deck offered the same 360 degree views of Melbourne as a $7 million penthouse on the floor below.

Mr Cockburn said Skydeck 88 also boasted a terrace, viewfinders positioned to take in places of interest around Melbourne and sloping floors designed to "play with people's senses".

The Skydeck 88 webpage indicates adult prices are actually $16.50. The "$12" refers to the glass cube laxative ride, "The Edge".

For comparison, it costs $14.50 (full adult price) to visit the Rialto observation deck and they include a printable 15% off voucher on their webpage.
