Water price increases  #

I'm OK with water price increases. A lot of reports in the past have said water in Australia is far too cheap (although they were talking mostly about business customers).

I'm a little irritated that the extra fees on my bill that were supposed to go toward infrastructure don't appear to have been put to good use, but I'll forgive that for the moment.

My water company put their new pricing structure proposal on the web today. It seems to be based on a 22% per year increase, which I believe was rejected by the Premier yesterday (rises of around 15% per annum we approved), but the basics are there.

They intend to remove the separate fixed sewerage, sewerage disposal and fixed water service charges (which are the majority of our bill) and replace them with a single fixed charge and an updated usage charge.

Based on their example changes our bill actually should get a lot cheaper as we appear to use far less water per year than the "average".

We'll see...

Also, no mention in the proposal of the yearly Parks and Gardens charge (around $60 per year). I presume that will remain.

MP3.com.au relaunch  #

Way back in 2000-2001 when I worked at MP3.com.au the boss always talked about a rewrite of the site in .NET. But we never had the resources.

I had a look at the site last month and nothing significant had changed.

Well, today I went again and it's been relaunched! In .NET! Good for them.

Approximate at MP3.com.au got a minor update (no new music... yet).
